All the Info for the Competitions, October 6, 2018

From the Prez: All the latest IATBP news   Hello All,   I’m excited to be writing more news about the two October 6, 2018 IATBP events: Bodybuilding and Powerlifting. Remember, the IATBP is not affiliated with TransFitCon, so please direct any questions to me (Bucky Motter) about either competition at contact@iatbp.org.   Locations, dates and times, and important information for the Bodybuilding Show and Powerlifting Competition:   Bodybuilding Show Saturday, October 6, 2018 Rundown: Athletes’ Weigh-in and Check in: 2:00-3:00pm Athletes’ Meeting: 3:00 to 4:00pm Show: 5:00pm   Location: 7 Stages Theatre (Black Box Theatre) 1105 Euclid Ave. NE Atlanta, GA 30307   7 Stages is located in the Little Five Points neighborhood, not to be confused with the Five Points area and Five Points MARTA train Station.   There are many restaurants to choose from within easy walking distance from the theatre. A short Lyft or Uber ride can take you to Candler Park Market in nearby Candler Park, or Kroger grocery store at Caroline Street for “bodybuilding food” in case you are staying in a location with a kitchen and/or need to buy food.   The theatre also has a coffee house located in the building for coffee, light snacks, and sweets.   Special Notes to Bodybuilders:   Please stay backstage during the contest. If you absolutely have to leave the dressing room, put on your sweats.   Don’t forget, guys who need to tan: absolutely NO spray tanning is allowed backstage. If you must spray tan the day of the competition, please exit the building through the rear exit to do so. Do not exit the building in your posing trunks. Wear your sweats. You should already be nice and dark by Saturday morning. I suggest beginning your tanning on Thursday night so if you need to tan, you will be dark enough by Saturday. Do not shower in between tanning coats. The darker you are, the less “orange” you will look. Bring crappy sheets with you so you don’t mess up your hosts’ or hotels’ sheets. Also, be careful when applying any kind of oil backstage. It can get all over everything. Bring a towel with you so you don’t come out on stage looking shiny.   Dream Tan Cream, NOT spray, is allowed backstage so long as you’re ultra careful when applying.   Here are a couple of links for tanning products:   Dream Tan Pro Tan   Bodybuilding Attire:   Absolutely NO underwear is to be worn on stage. In the past the judges have let y’all wear underwear, but please be aware that this year you will not be allowed to do so.   Posing trunks are highly suggested. If you are have problems with dysphoria while wearing posing trunks, please be advised that spandex shorts should be no longer than six inches at the sides.   Here are a couple of links for posing trunks:   BPT Muscle and Strength   Music:   Absolutely NO profanity in music will be allowed this year. If you think your music might be inappropriate, you can email it to me at contact@iatbp.org in the next couple of weeks and I will let you know if it is or not. No racial slurs, no music demeaning to women, etc.   Your music should be edited to 60-90 seconds. The DJ will not fade it out for you. All music should be sent to contact@iatbp.org in mp3 or mp4 format.   Powerlifting Competition Saturday, October 6, 2018 Rundown: Athletes’ Weigh in and Check in: 11:00am to 12:00pm Competition: 12:00pm   Location: Crossfit Downtown Atlanta 215B Chester Ave. SE Atlanta, GA 30316   CFDTA is located in the historic Cabbagetown neighborhood. The gym is a powerlifters’ dream. Y’all are gonna love it! It is super well stocked with pound bumper plates, and there is plenty of space to warm up.   There are restaurants near the gym. Carroll Street Cafe is open for breakfast if you want to fuel up before the competition.   The Wilks Coefficient will be used to judge the winners in each category.   I am pleased to announce we will have three categories at the competition with trophies being given for First, Second, and Third place in each category as well as a trophy for the overall winner:

  1. Male-Identified Competitors
  2. Female-Identified Competitors
  3. Gender Non-Binary Competitors

Each competitor decides for themselves in which category to compete.   Remember, the Powerlifting Competition is open to ALL GENDERS. We welcome all to participate. This outreach engenders understanding and dialogue between trans folk and cis-gendered (non-trans) folk.   Special Notes to Powerlifters:   Powerlifting Attire:   It is highly recommended that you wear a singlet for competing. The judge must be able to see that you have reached the proper depth for your Squat. If you don’t wear a singlet, please check out the attire requirements on the IATBP website.   Here are a couple of links for singlets:   Max Barbell Lifting at Large   Well, I think that’s it for now. Again, if you have any questions please direct them to me at contact@iatbp.org.   I look forward to meeting all of you. Let’s show the world what we can do when we unite!   In Gratitude and Service,   Bucky Motter President/Head Judge IATBP contact@iatbp.org
